The position holder will be part of the FINATRAX Research Group at SnT, headed by Prof. Fridgen. The group offers a highly motivated and ambitious work environment with a strong focus on individual objectives and goals. Relying on strong administrative and financial support from the SnT, it builds on a mix of long-term fundamental research funding, collaborative European funding, as well as demand driven innovation projects with private and public partners. The working language of this group is English.
Your role
The successful candidate will conduct research, teaching, and technology transfer in the area of Information Systems Engineering. The candidate is an internationally recognized scientist in the field with a strong track record of internationally competitive research in relation to the candidate's career stage. The candidate should have the potential to build, lead, and sustain a research team within the FINATRAX research group.
The mission is to
- Define and lead long- and short-term research initiatives
- Build, lead, and supervise a team of PhD candidates and research associates
- Disseminate scientific results in top journals and conferences
- Acquire funding to sustain the group
- Build and manage relationships with national and international partners as well as with academic, industrial, and public partners
In addition, the position holder will design and deliver Bachelor and Master level classes, e.g. in programmes related to computer science, economics or management.
The candidate will undertake tutoring and internship supervision of Bachelor and Master Students.
Your profile
- PhD degree in Information Systems, Business Informatics, Business Engineering, Management, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Excellent publication record in top-tier journals and conferences of the Information Systems field
- Solution-driven and design-oriented research
- Experience in leading research initiatives, including successful funding acquisition from diverse and competitive sources
- Research experiences in the domains of FinTech, Sustainability, Cyber Security, or Space are considered an asset
- The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and either French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other language and provides access to language courses to this end
Language requirements

If not proficient in French, the candidate commits to follow intensive language courses allowing her/him to use French in teaching and research within two years. The University provides access to language courses to this end. The University encourages its staff also to learn German.
