About the SnT

The ) within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg.

The position is initially funded for one year (with a probation period of six months) and may be extended up to five years following positive evaluation and commitment.

The research is linked to the project PSYBER - Assessing Cybersecurity Preparedness, funded by the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. The project will be executed closely with Prof. Marcus Völp - Robustness and Resilience in Computing, with Prof. Pedro Cardoso Leite - Faculty of Social Science / Cognitive Science and Assessment), the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, the national cybersecurity agency. The three groups have established an exciting interdisciplinary environment.

Your role

Depending on the ambition and abilities, in addition to being involved in the group's research on data protection and socio-technical security design and analysis, the candidate can have the opportunity to develop their research project and to engage in interdisciplinary scientific work with the community of researchers of the University.

Successful candidates are expected to participate in the following activities:

  • Conduct highly innovative research in cybersecurity preparedness and metrics
  • Publish research results and present them at international conferences
  • Contribute to reports activities in support of project management
  • Guide and co-supervise PhD or M.Sc. students
  • Contribute to teaching in Cybersecurity courses
  • Teach or take part in other initiatives linked to the Master in Cybersecurity

Your profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in Socio-technical threats and attacks, deception and social engineering, and security metrics.

Academic:

  • A PhD in Computer Security or equivalent degrees in other academic fields relevant to the position (Sociotechnical Security, Computer Science, Cybersecurity).
  • Experience in experimental research is considered an advantage.

Communication Skills:

  • Proficiency in written and oral English (French is considered an advantage).
  • Good academic writing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Unquestionable research ethics conduct.

Organizational and Personal:

  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently organize work.
  • Inquisitive mind and critical thinking.
  • Collaborative attitude, scientific curiosity, and open-mindedness.

Other requirements:

Due to the nature of the project, we are allowed to accept only candidates from NATO member countries or NATO partners.
