Data Engineer – Manufacturing Data Infrastructure
We are looking for our Advanced Solutions team for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team and take ownership of building and maintaining a resilient and scalable data infrastructure for our Industry 4.0 manufacturing solutions. In this role, you will design and implement data pipelines, storage solutions, and integration frameworks that handle high volumes of real-time manufacturing data. Working closely with other team members, you will ensure seamless data flow from manufacturing equipment to our centralised data repositories.
During the evolution of our product, you will become responsible for scouting and adopting new technologies to enhance our services focused on advanced analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance data pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable, and real-time processing of large-scale manufacturing data, minimising delays and optimising data flow.
- Design and optimise data storage solutions that ensure secure, scalable, and efficient access to manufacturing data for analytics and operational needs.
- Develop adaptable data architectures that can scale and evolve with organisational growth and changing business needs, ensuring that data solutions remain effective and aligned with long-term strategic goals.
- Implement data validation and monitoring protocols that ensure the highest levels of data quality and integrity, minimising errors and downtime.
- Develop and implement data cleaning, aggregation, and enrichment processes to transform raw sensor data into consistent, complete, and analysis-ready formats, including handling missing values, standardising data, and creating meaningful metrics for downstream use.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, define data models, and implement solutions that support data-driven decisions in manufacturing operations.
- Stay ahead of industry trends to lead the integration of new technologies, driving enhancements in data infrastructure and ensuring seamless transitions and ongoing improvements.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Experience working with real-time data and high-volume data streams, preferably in a manufacturing or Industry 4.0
- Proficiency in data engineering methodologies, tools, and techniques, with hands-on experience in building data pipelines and storage solutions using Microsoft technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database).
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable and reliable data architectures to support manufacturing data processing and analysis.
- Strong SQL skills with expertise in query optimisation, especially in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure, along with experience using scripting/automation to improve data processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technology stack, including .NET framework, C#, and ASP.NET, for understanding software architecture and integration with data engineering solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps for managing data engineering workflows, version control, and supporting continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and take full ownership of established data architecture, pipelines, and integration solutions, focusing on problem-solving and performance optimisation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to engaging with cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
