The Director, Business Development will expand LTDDivision business in assigned territory as part of the broaderBusiness Development team, through proactively managing the salesprocess, following up on leads, filling the pipeline to meet theyearly revenue targets for the region whilst demonstrating WuXiAppTec’s core values and complying with Company Policies. Inaddition to leading and managing a team to achieve Divisiontargets, provide exceptional customer service and collaborate withother BD teams, this position will also require direct salesresponsibility for a number of customer accounts. Please note thelocation of this job is work from home in (ideally) Germany.Overnight travel requirement is approximately 25 - 50%. • Developand lead an engaged and high performing team, and implementprocess, methodology and infrastructure that delivers repeatablesuccess. • Develop, align and execute an annual business plan thatdelivers the targeted revenue goals. • Establish professionalrapport with internal functional leaders as well as market leadingcustomers to remain forward facing in providing feedback oninnovative internal processes and market demands. Customerengagements should be regular for the purpose of informing theorganization of strategic and tactical performance. • Create newopportunities and develop new relationships to expand and grow ourcustomer base in assigned region. • Qualify leads and presentopportunity(ies) to manager. • Facilitate business meeting withWuXi AppTec with proper agenda, attendees, focus on opportunity andfollow-up, meeting summary and action items. • Project professionalimage of WuXi as solutions provider with clearly articulatedmessages. • Support proposal negotiation to close contract. • Pointof contact for WuXi LTD and customer; ensure communicationchannels; pro-actively identify areas of growth opportunity; ensurestable relationship with customers and potential customers. •Identify issues which could jeopardize partnership; pose solutions.• Maintain excellent relationships with internal business partnersat WuXi. • Effectively and professionally communicates with bothinternal and external stakeholders. • Facilitates and supportsteamwork to achieve common goals across WuXi LTD. • Overnighttravel requirement approximately 25 - 50%. • Other duties asassigned. • Leads and develops team. • Achieves assigned salesquota. • Achieves assigned supplier and customer onboarding goals.• Achieves new account acquisition targets. • Completes requiredtraining and development objectives within the assigned time frame.• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Life Science fields; MBA, M.S.or PhD from Life Sciences field a plus with 5+ years of experiencein leading a team and at least 5 years of business developmentexperience preferred. • Experience leading a team of remoteworkers. • International business or cross-cultural experience,ability to work with international teams. • Experience acquiringand developing key accounts and driving top line in CRO, Pharma,Biotech services revenue growth, through collaboration orindependent efforts in a territory. • Prior track record ofachievement in positions with significant accountability. •Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and passport. •Demonstrated success at managing multiple opportunities andprojects simultaneously. Technical Skills / Knowledge: •Demonstrates expertise in integrated service offerings of theLaboratory Testing Division at Wuxi AppTec • Demonstrates expertisein market-specific environments, understanding of market dynamicsand market specific trends, regulatory frameworks and legalboundaries, competitive landscapes, influential medical societies,etc. • Demonstrated ability to couple business insight, and abilityto translate business opportunity and business growth. • Ability torepresent the company and its business interests at the highestlevels: with key CRO, Pharma & Biotech stakeholders anddecision makers, key opinion leaders. • Demonstrated abilities inthe area of listening, negotiations, teamwork and persuasiveness. •Coordinates with other BDs or scientific counterparts to provideappropriate solutions to clients. • Track record for handlingdifficult situations and posing solutions that lead to turnaroundor success. • Ability to accomplish the described duties with theuse of appropriate computer equipment and software (especiallyMicrosoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and CRM tool).Independence/ Accountability: • Demonstrates the ability to aself-starter. • Functions in a self-motivated and highly flexiblemanner. • Must be organized and detailed-oriented. • Ability towork effectively as part of a team and to exhibit effectiveinterpersonal skills. • Ability to develop and implement salesstrategies and tactics to achieve defined goals. Problem Solving: •Possesses proven experience in creating or capitalizing onopportunities leading to successful outcomes, ideally with BusinessDevelopment relevance. • Comfortable in high-complexity salessituations and willing to take on customer’s challenges andmaximally leverage company’s offerings to address customer’s needs.• Comfortable in technically oriented sales and strive to providethe best value to customers. Communication Skills: • Very stronginterpersonal and presentation skills. • Strong analytical ability,comfort with science and numbers. • Demonstrated ability tonegotiate and influence at all levels of an organization. • Strongwritten communication skills.
