The player team is looking for a motivated JavaScript engineer to enhance the video streaming experience of our users. This role is focused on delivering a state of the art playback experience within our streaming apps on embedded JavaScript based devices and connected (smart) TVs. We are developing a core playback SDK by getting the most out of JavaScript and working on the edge of the devices. 

In this position, you work within our hybrid model “Highly Remote”. You can work mostly remote within Germany. You can find all information here. The contractually agreed place of work will be Unterföhring near Munich or Berlin. Possible travel costs to the place of work will not be reimbursed.

• You are actively involved in the entire agile software development process, from concept to production, and develop highly available solutions used by millions of users 
• Also, you ship new and exciting features to our new video player running on Smart TVs 
• You optimize the video player's performance to ensure a smooth experience for all our users 
• Therefore, you collaborate in an agile, cross-functional team consisting of software engineers, QA testers, and product managers 
• You tackle technological challenges with great learning perspectives and take on ownership of your work

Your essential experience and education

• You have strong knowledge of video players, streaming protocols (MPEG-DASH, HLS), and related technologies, including Media Source Extensions (MSE) and Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) APIs 
• Also, you have hands-on experience with JavaScript and TypeScript 
• Experience with open-source video players like Shaka Player or Hls.js and with developing apps for Smart TVs is preferred 
• You are autonomous and proactive, and have a high sense of ownership for the product 
• You possess excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills, with fluency in written and spoken English; German is a plus
