Position Overview


As part of the German Commercial business unit team, the Key Account Manager will actively pursue our portfolio’s growth, both in terms of volume and value. This person develops ideas and customised solutions to ensure the best possible execution of our brands at national and regional customers.


The Key Account Manager works closely across internal Commercial departments, focusing on close liaison with third parties and National teams, in order to bring the strategy to life at POS.


Key Responsibilities


  • Become an expert in the customers / customer groups / Field Sales regions assigned to you.
  • Identify long and short-term trends, a clear knowledge of the customers, their operations, strategies, opportunities and risks.
  • Support the Channel Director in defining the opportunities for growth in order to build robust and deliverable plans, which accelerate brand and portfolio performance in the market.
  • Take strategic direction from the Channel Director and define clear tactics and programs which deliver against those strategic objectives and annual business plans.
  • Consistently seek incremental above-plan growth opportunities to continually accelerate business performance across the customer set.
  • Take complete ownership of the defined Channels / Key Accounts, including influencing of (regional) listings, promotions, category management projects and activation of the plans through to store.
  • Develop customer specific promotions in collaboration with the Trade Marketing Manager in consideration of customer / channel needs.
  • Build strong working relationships, deploying strong influencing skills to ensure that the energy objectives are prioritised, met and, where possible, exceeded despite their broader commercial pressures, whilst always upholding and respecting the agreed ways of working.
  • Be a brand ambassador showing the right attitude and drive in all that you do to positively represent the brands and business at all times.
  • Implementation and participation on cross-customer / channel / strategic projects.


Ideal Candidate


  • Min. 4 years of relevant experience in a Key Account / Channel / Category Management role in Beverage or other FMCG Category.
  • Experience in negotiations with regional and national accounts.
  • Clear understanding and experience of scaled activation of brands in various store environments.
  • Good overall understanding of the German marketplace and customer structure.
  • Strong analytical skills to create clear strategic customer / channel development plans tying into overall Annual Business Plans.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
  • The role is home-based and will require regular travel and overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends to host trade guests at events, attend trade fairs etc.
  • Driving license
