Professorship for Hydrology (W1 TT W2, f/m/d)

The Institute for Environmental Sciences (iES) of the Department of Natural and Environmental Sciences at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau is seeking to fill the tenure-track W1 Junior Professorship for Hydrology with W2 tenure in Landau at the earliest possible date. As an institution with a strong interest in promoting young researchers, we strongly encourage applications from recent PhD graduates.The position includes a competitive start-up package. It will initially be filled as a W 1 position as a temporary civil servant for six years. In addition to an interim evaluation for orientation purposes, a tenure evaluation will be carried out at the end of the term on the basis of clearly defined and transparent criteria. These criteria are defined together with the future position holder at the time of appointment. After successful completion of the tenure evaluation, the appointment is made as a civil servant for life in grade W 2, provided that the general requirements under civil service law are met. The procedure is regulated in the statutes on quality assurance for appointments at RPTU.Your area of responsibility:The Institute for Environmental Sciences (iES) focuses on ecosystems under the influence of anthropogenic stressors in the context of global change. The focus is on interactions between surface waters and terrestrial ecosystems. We are looking for a person who can bring a hydrological perspective to this interdisciplinary field of research and use her or his expertise to actively shape interdisciplinary cooperation within the institute. Thus, the research should contribute to the hydrology of surface waters in the context of global change. In particular, the integration as Principal Investigator in the DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG) SystemLink "Propagation of in-stream environmental alterations to adjacent terrestrial ecosystems" is planned. Methods of empirical field research, remote sensing and modelling will be used. In teaching, the topic of hydrology is to be represented in the environmental sciences Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes as well as in the Master's degree programme in Environmental Engineering. The teaching obligation follows the regulations of §2 section. 1 no. 2 of the State Ordinance on Teaching Obligations at Universities in Rhineland-Palatinate (HlehrVO).Our requirements profile:The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology Kaiserslautern-Landau have a supervision concept in which a high level of teacher presence at the university location is expected. In addition to the general requirements under employment law, the recruitment requirements set out in §54 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act apply.A successfully completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, a qualified doctorate with clear links to hydrology and special aptitude for scientific work, as demonstrated by relevant international publications, among other things, are required. International visibility, experience abroad and experience in acquiring third-party funding and implementing third-party funded projects as well as international cooperation are desirable. Depending on the degree programme, teaching must be provided in either German or English. In principle, knowledge of both languages is required. If the applicant does not have sufficient knowledge of German, he or she is expected to be willing to acquire missing language skills within a reasonable period of time.RPTU stands for the diversity of all employees.
