For our Central Laboratory in Göttingen, we arelooking for an Associate Director, Laboratory Operations (m/f/x) /R-242636 Fulltime/Regular/Level 8 Position Purpose: Leads the LabTeam in Göttingen. - Develop and implement plans to assure that allsamples are received, tested and results released in a timelymanner and in compliance with relevant regulatory agenciesconsistently. - Manage the staffing and instrumentation to meetcompany needs for timeliness, accuracy, and cost effectiveness. -Maintain knowledge of the plasma and laboratory industries suitablefor the planning role of the job. - Maintain customer’srelationships, assuring we are providing the tests they need atgood value on time. - Develop managers and supervisors toeffectively lead teams to success within the values and objectivesof the CSL group. Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: -Manage staff, including recruiting, selection and training,coaching, developing and terminating as applicable with guidancefrom Human Resources. - Manage the capacity and organizationalcapability to perform tests and deliver test results required forthe release of Normal Source Plasma and specified other types ofplasma, per customer specifications, within CSL cost targets.Manage the resolution of technical and process issues, assuringsafety and recovery is timely. - Lead the site to ensure all testscarried out in the Göttingen laboratory are carried out inaccordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GXP), CSL standardsand regulatory requirements. - Responsible to drive Laboratoryculture. This should be done through development of effectivestrategies, management of employee performance and engagement byproviding regular feedback, staff development, coaching, whileconducting annual employee appraisals. - Lead and coordinateprojects to improve Lab infrastructure and facility to meet currentand future needs, focused on growth and automation, while usingLean Management and continuous improvement principles. - Ensureaccurate forecast modeling and alignment of resources to optimallyhandle the workload. Develop and implement annual budget, buildinga bottoms-up budget and then monitoring performance against it.Participate in the forecasting process, aligning lab operationswith business performance expectations. - Participate in majorsupplier contract negotiations and lead minor ones. Ensure Labmaintains excellent R&D relationships at key suppliercompanies. Support assays developments that are potentially morecost-effective or accurate for the Lab. Maintain and manage keysupplier relationships. - Establish Lab Operations Key PerformanceIndicators. Identify trends and issues requiring resolution. Managedifficult problems, escalating where necessary and leading detailedinvestigations to assure achievement of committed goals. - Workclosely with IT, HR, Finance, QA/Compliance, Engineering Servicesand other corporate functions on initiatives that affect thebusiness. Teach them about the Lab to help make good decisions andlearn from them how to make the Lab run better. Create linkages toother lab experts in the CSL Group as appropriate. - Oversee thedrafting, review and updating of SOPs to ensure all laboratoryprocesses are correctly defined and described in the SOPs and arein line with relevant regulations and internationally recognizedGMP standards. - Perform job-related duties as assigned.
