For our CentralLaboratory in Göttingen, we are looking for an Associate Director,Laboratory Operations (m/f/x) / R-242636 Fulltime/Regular/Level 8Position Purpose: Leads the Lab Team in Göttingen. Develop andimplement plans to assure that all samples are received, tested andresults released in a timely manner and in compliance with relevantregulatory agencies consistently. Manage the staffing andinstrumentation to meet company needs for timeliness, accuracy, andcost effectiveness. Maintain knowledge of the plasma and laboratoryindustries suitable for the planning role of the job. Maintaincustomer’s relationships, assuring we are providing the tests theyneed at good value on time. Develop managers and supervisors toeffectively lead teams to success within the values and objectivesof the CSL group. Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Manage staff, including recruiting, selection and training,coaching, developing and terminating as applicable with guidancefrom Human Resources. Manage the capacity and organizationalcapability to perform tests and deliver test results required forthe release of Normal Source Plasma and specified other types ofplasma, per customer specifications, within CSL cost targets.Manage the resolution of technical and process issues, assuringsafety and recovery is timely. Lead the site to ensure all testscarried out in the Göttingen laboratory are conducted in accordancewith Good Manufacturing Practice (GXP), CSL standards, andregulatory requirements. Responsible for driving Laboratory culturethrough development of effective strategies, management of employeeperformance and engagement by providing regular feedback, staffdevelopment, coaching, and conducting annual employee appraisals.Lead and coordinate projects to improve Lab infrastructure andfacility to meet current and future needs, focusing on growth andautomation while using Lean Management and continuous improvementprinciples. Ensure accurate forecast modeling and alignment ofresources to handle the workload optimally. Develop and implementan annual budget, building a bottoms-up budget, and monitoringperformance against it. Participate in the forecasting process,aligning lab operations with business performance expectations.Participate in major supplier contract negotiations and lead minorones. Ensure the Lab maintains excellent R&D relationships withkey suppliers. Support assay developments that are morecost-effective or accurate for the Lab. Maintain and manage keysupplier relationships. Establish Lab Operations Key PerformanceIndicators, identify trends and issues requiring resolution, managedifficult problems, escalate when necessary, and lead detailedinvestigations to ensure achievement of committed goals. Workclosely with IT, HR, Finance, QA/Compliance, Engineering Services,and other corporate functions on initiatives that affect thebusiness. Teach them about the Lab to help make good decisions, andlearn from them how to improve Lab operations. Create linkages withother lab experts in the CSL Group as appropriate. Oversee thedrafting, review, and updating of SOPs to ensure all laboratoryprocesses are correctly defined and described in the SOPs andcomply with relevant regulations and internationally recognized GMPstandards.
