for the product clusters Sports, Marketing & Internal Systems
in our IT & Digital division in the Technology & Operations department
at the Frankfurt am Main location.
The IT & Digital division at the DFB comprises the four product clusters "Sport", "Marketing", "Internal Systems" and "Clubs / Associations". The Technology & Operations division is responsible for technical implementation and ongoing operations, providing technical expertise, ensuring the technical infrastructure and smooth processes.
As Head of Software Development, you have overall responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the software development teams for the 3 clusters of Sport, Marketing and Internal Systems. In this role, you will develop and implement the department's vision and strategy, create the organizational framework and ensure efficient collaboration within the department and with other units such as Enterprise Architecture and Operations.
You are responsible for recruiting, managing and developing employees as well as ensuring the necessary technical skills within the department. In addition, you will accompany and support continuous improvement processes and ensure that the development processes are scalable and implemented efficiently.
Your other tasks will include monitoring the budget and costs, proactively identifying and mitigating risks and maintaining and negotiating with service providers for software development.
Your tasks- Development and implementation of the vision and strategy for the department
- Formation and management of the development teams in line with the 3 product clusters
- Supporting and promoting continuous improvement processes within the teams
- Reviewing and proactively developing the department's required skills profile
- Ensuring effective collaboration with Enterprise Architecture
- Ensuring compliance with internal and cross-departmental processes, such as the software development process
- Recruitment, management and continuous development of the team as well as their organizational support
- Maintaining communication with the 3-product clusters and effective conflict resolution
- Completed master's degree in computer science or business informatics with further training and certification in software development, agile methods and employee management
- Several years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in software development
- Extensive management experience, including leading development teams and implementing software projects
- Expert in the agile development environment and in-depth knowledge as a link between specialist departments and IT
- Experience as a software architect and with cloud deployments
- Familiarity with common technologies and frameworks such as Java, JavaScript (e.g. React or Angular) and experience with databases (e.g. SQL, NoSQL)
- Understanding of DevOps principles and tools such as Jenkins or GitLab
- Strong communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts in an understandable way
- Experience in the development and implementation of IT roadmaps
- Expertise in budget planning and resource management
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve common goals
- Experience in working with executives and stakeholders to ensure alignment of software development
