The Role

This is a stimulating role for a 3+ year experienced marketer seeking a diverse, challenging and rewarding role. It offers the opportunity to work directly with Partners, external organisations and clients.

We value creativity and those with an ability to prioritise and deliver high quality outputs, in all we do internally and externally. Clients are at the heart of what we do. An ability to work with other teams, think about client interest first and deliver to that, is a must.

We provide on the job, practical training and guidance, as well as, training from third party providers.

Our roles require a personality type that is interested in global events, takes a keen interest in current affairs, and can translate that into relevant activities and content for the given practice and sector area.

Our roles are fast paced and rewarding. You could be leading on communicating a significant new legal development, working on a major client conference, or supporting a lawyer to win work from individual clients. We seek to invest and attract diverse talent, who can enrich and help us continually ‘think afresh’ and challenge how we deliver our activities.


You will need to want a role where you can:

  • develop strong relationships with other teams and lawyers
  • focus on delivery and evidence successes

The successful candidate will work with the Head of practice Group Marketing and other marketing colleagues, as well as the lawyer leads and other stakeholders, to support growth through execution of the marketing and communications plan in order to enhance the profile of the relevant practice and sector areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be working with the head of Practice Group Marketing and relevant practice leads, partners and stakeholders to drive forward and develop the marketing our German commercial and tax practices
  • Support in the development, implementation and delivery of campaigns and business development & marketing initiatives using the full range of routes to market
  • Developing best in class, practice-based sales collateral and legal updates
  • Manage the development of client-specific pitch materials
  • Event management, including events with a global focus
  • Working collaboratively with other support functions internationally to provide a seamless service to the business
  • Provide business intelligence on key competitors and marketplace trends, identifying ways of gaining a competitive advantage in the market
  • Ability to turn client-facing practice group messaging into sector specific marketing for our clients
  • Supporting key partners and stakeholders in client targeting and business development initiatives
  • Challenge traditional marketing techniques and embrace technology and cutting-edge approaches to drive connectivity to the firm’s client base

Skills & Experience

  • We seek individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain resilient under pressure
  • Experience within a business development & marketing role, ideally from a professional services firm with international offices, is desirable
  • Experience in delivering, or supporting the delivery of marketing plans, campaigns and initiatives including strategic events, creation and activation of thought leadership, marketing communications and business development activities
  • Ability to prioritise the right activities that deliver value to our business
  • Previous experience will demonstrate an ability to support campaign-based activity and an ability to use influencing skills to gain credibility across all levels within the firm
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the German business and legal market. You will interpret legal and client specific issues in order to devise effective and winning approaches, taking into account client perspectives


The Team

We have five practice areas, through which we seek to take our legal expertise to market, including via our priority sectors. The five practice areas are Company Commercial, Litigation & Dispute Management, Employment, Labor and Pensions, Real Estate and Konexo, our alternative legal services business.

Our Marketing & BD team works across five key areas: Strategy, Clients, Pitch, Regions and Operational. Our Strategy team is responsible for devising and implementing strategy and activates across all areas of our business.

Germany presents a unique growth opportunity for the firm and our commercial and tax practices are central to this, particularly in areas such as data and cyber security, intellectual property, corporate tax and tax disputes. The lawyers in these practices work with many household names helping them to navigate increasingly dynamic regulations, and regulators as well as working on large, multi-jurisdictional projects.

Es gibt zwar kein spezielles Business-Development-Studium, manchmal ist es aber als Studienschwerpunkt wählbar. Der fachliche Hintergrund richtet sich nach der jeweiligen Branche des Business-Development-Jobs, meist im Bereich Technik oder Naturwissenschaft.
