Job Description: Applications Scientist – Europe Region

Location: Essen, Germany

We are seeking a passionate and self-motivated Applications Scientist to join our team at our office in Essen, Germany, as soon as possible to support our growth in the region. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and make significant contributions to the field of spectroscopy.

Summary of Duties:

In this role, you will:

  • Work with potential customers to analyze samples and perform product demonstrations at our application laboratory or at customer sites within the Europe region.
  • Conduct on-site installations, provide technical support, and offer user training for our customers.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to introduce our technology and promote new applications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our network of academic and industrial collaborators and customers.
  • Participate in the development of new instrumentation, techniques, and applications.
  • Provide technical and applications advice to colleagues.
  • Write applications notes or collaborate on publications with customers
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. (including recent graduates) in a science or engineering field, preferably with a focus in organic chemistry, biochemistry, or polymer research.
  • Experience with vibrational spectroscopy techniques such as Infrared or Raman.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of German is highly beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the European region (approx. 25% travel).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience using O-PTIR or nanoscale IR spectroscopy is preferred.
  • Flexibility in working hours due to customer travel and international meetings
Compensation:
