Main Responsibilities:

1.Market Research

The incoming manager will contribute towards Singapore's positioning as a leading destination for MICE through securing a pipeline of business events for Singapore in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe. Through gathering and analysing of market intelligence data, he/she will help to increase Singapore's competitiveness in acquiring new business events.


2. Business Development

The manager will need to be proactive in undertaking business development activities, plan for site inspection trips and support SECB's work to bid for conventions and meetings to build a pipeline of MICE events. He/she will work on cultivating and engaging stakeholders from Central, Southern & Eastern Europe, to achieve targets and other strategic objectives for SECB. This position will interact with team members in the Singapore Headquarters (HQ). This position will also maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, the MICE media and potential clients to identify new MICE events to secure for Singapore.


3. Programmes and Events

Organise Singapore's participation in MICE platforms and events such as IMEX Frankfurt, business development road shows, sales calls.


4.Office and Administrative operations

Overseeing administrative matters related to service providers such as travel agency, warehouse, office and staff insurances, payroll service, etc.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Serve as the STB Frankfurt contact across all MICE sectors for accounts primarily headquartered in the Central, Southern and Eastern Europe but could be called upon to cover other region within Europe as and when needed.
  • Source and build a pipeline of MICE leads and contacts for Association Meetings, Exhibition Organizers, Corporate Meetings & Events and Incentives
  • Grow strong relationships with intermediaries and clients, respond to RFPs and provide timely advice, resource and facilitation support through various STB programmes and initiatives.
  • Maintain account records for all assigned accounts including document appointments, activities and overall account management in the CRM system (currently Salesforce)
  • Prepare and submit internal proposals and applications for STB's programmes and initiatives (e.g grants)
  • Understand Singapore’s MICE offerings, venues and suppliers and navigate relationships with partners to meet the client’s needs
  • Identify and pursue new partner opportunities (such as partnerships and alliances with industry associations, platforms and third party meeting planners) to grow Singapore’s presence and influence within Central, Southern and Eastern Europe or other areas.
  • Oversee programs and events (e.g roadshows and tradeshows such as IMEX Frankfurt) to increase the awareness of Singapore
  • Develop and lead projects from concept/planning through to evaluation. Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
  • Work with Singapore HQ colleagues to support and execute strategic projects and activations
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as admin office matters
  • Overseeing administrative contracts with service providers
  • Liaise with STB headquarters for all IT related work in the office
  • Oversee and procure office and pantry supplies (where necessary)


What You Need For This Position

  • At least 3 to 4 years of travel/events related experience in the MICE industry; destination marketing is a plus
  • Relationships within the industry and outside-the-box thinking to attract new business
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills, methodical and detailed oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and decisive yet knows when to approach senior staff when needed
  • Always thinking about the bigger picture and how to position Singapore better
  • Demonstrate and develop presentation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to spot relevant trends and insights and share with the team
  • Willingness to travel and staff evening and weekend events from time to time.
  • Experience working in a global team across multiple time zones and cultures
  • Is data driven and proficient in reading and analyzing data. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
